It all started with a lump on Sachin’s throat, discovered during a routine physical in 2015. The doctor said it could be nothing, but he wanted to take a biopsy just to be safe. 48 hours after the biopsy, Sachin received the call that he needed to meet with his doctor in person to review the results.
The biopsy came back positive. Sachin had thyroid cancer.
A cancer diagnosis is devastating for anyone, but as a 34-year-old father of two young children, the news was particularly difficult.
Fortunately, Sachin’s friends, family, and colleagues were incredibly supportive. Within weeks of the diagnosis, Sachin had surgery to remove his thyroid and several lymph nodes. Soon after, he began the radiation treatment required to destroy remaining cancer cells and to ensure that the cancer would not spread. Sachin’s treatment was effective, and he remains cancer-free.
